Geocoding in Simple GIS Client
Welcome to Simple GIS Client Tutorials page. This page contains video tutorials covering the basics of geocoding in the Simple GIS Client application. The videos below cover the basics of batch geocoding addresses from an Excel or csv file as well as creating your own geocode database.
Please Note
Some of the tutorials here were created on version 13 or earlier versions of Simple GIS Client. While many of the principles remain the same, several of the dialogs have been re-designed in version 14 and may look different than the ones shown in these tutorials. We will be updating with new tutorials soon.
Batch Geocoding Street Addresses from Excel or CSV Files
Description
- This tutorial demonstrates using the Address Mapping Project Template or Batch Geocoding tool to batch geocode street address data from an Excel spreadsheet or CSV file into a new shapefile layer. The tutorial covers the available geocoding services availabe in Simple GIS, correcting addresses that could not be matched, as well as exporting the attribute data from the new shapefile to an Excel report with corresponding latitude and longitude coordinate generated from geocoding process.
