Important: Downloading and Installing Simple GIS Client
Windows and your web browser may display a security warning when you download or start the Simple GIS Client installer. This can happen even though the installer is digitally signed by Simple GIS Software, LLC.
Microsoft SmartScreen checks an application's reputation as well as its digital signature. Because Simple GIS Client is specialized software with a relatively small download volume, Windows may not yet recognize the installer as a widely downloaded application.
A SmartScreen warning does not automatically mean that a file is malicious. However, you should always verify that you downloaded the installer from our official website and that the publisher is correct before proceeding.
Step 1: Download the installer
Click "Click Here to Install Your Free Trial" to download the installer, SimpleGISClientx64.exe.
If you use Microsoft Edge: Edge may display a security warning and ask whether you want to keep the downloaded file.
- Open the Downloads panel in Edge.
- Click the warning or the three-dot menu next to the download.
- If the available options include Keep or Keep anyway, select the appropriate option to continue. Note: once you select Keep, you may be presented with a dialog similar to the one shown to the right. In this case, you must click on the drop-down arrow next to the Delete button and click Keep Anyway.
The wording and available options may vary depending on your version of Edge and its security settings.
If you use Google Chrome: The download may complete without this prompt. You may instead encounter a Windows security warning when you try to run the installer, as described below.
Step 2: If Windows displays "Windows protected your PC"
When you open SimpleGISClientx64.exe, Windows may display a Microsoft Defender SmartScreen message stating:

If you downloaded the installer from the official Simple GIS Software website, follow these steps:
- Click More info to display additional details.
- Verify that the application is SimpleGISClientx64.exe and that the publisher is Simple GIS Software, LLC.
- If the publisher is correct and you intended to install Simple GIS Client, click Run anyway to continue.
If the publisher is missing, differs from the name above, or the warning identifies a specific security threat rather than an unrecognized application, do not proceed. Contact Simple GIS Software for assistance.
Step 3: Complete the installation
Follow the installation wizard's instructions. Windows may display a User Account Control prompt asking whether you want to allow the installer to make changes to your device. Verify that the publisher is Simple GIS Software, LLC before approving the prompt.
Your security matters
Only download Simple GIS Client from the official Simple GIS Software website. Never disable Windows security features to install the software.
